Most of them are money pots after 10 years and the resale value on most continues to plumet.
If you had a rare model with low mileage, you may be able to make a profit.
If you want a particular car and you have the money for continual repairs, buy it. Just don't expect to make money.
There is always an exception but usually sports cars if kept nice are more likely to increase in value than a luxury car.

Depends on the car.
Lexus will run forever with almost no repairs, just regular maintenance.
But, have your own mechanic check things out thoroughly.
But don't call it an investment. It's a car. It needs insurance, maintenance like oil and filter changes, replacing brake pads, car washes, space to park, etc.
The cash flow is all one way, out of your pocket. The value keeps going down. That's no investment. It's the cost of transportation.

No. A purchase is different than an investment. An investment is an asset you purchase to bring a return or an appreciation of the asset. Doing this will achieve neither unless you are using it as a limousine for hire or some luxury car you think will become a classic.
That said, most luxury cars are driven by mature, responsible people and not 25 years olds. If you want a luxury car and find one in great shape you can buy one at a very modest price.

No. With few exceptions, automobiles are not investments. They depreciate over time and during that time they cost money for storage, maintenance, insurance and repair. Unless the vehicle is used commercially and money earned by it’s use covers those as well as operating costs and leaves a profit worthy justifying the business risks it can never be considered an investment.
With few exceptions, daily driver type cars do not go up in value as they age.
At 10 years old, most passenger vehicles are at the end of their life expectancy. Manufacturers will no longer carry parts and teh aftermarket may have little interest in supplying parts for a limited production model, most of which are no longer on the road. So, one could get stuck with a very expensive full scale model.

Repeat after me:
A car is not an investment.
I don’t care whether it is a luxury car or a beater. It is an asset that you can assume will depreciate.
Of course, some cars have gone up in value. The 1957 Porsche Speedster I decided not to buy for $800 in 1966 is worth a lot more today:

This one sold recently for $376,000. The car I wound up buying for $1,500, a 1958 coupe, would be worth about $100,000 today.

Who knew?
But here’s the thing: who knew? I just wanted a car that was unique and drove beautifully.
I still drive Porsches. My current ride, a 2005 Carrera (997.1). I paid about $38,000 for it six years ago. Today, with 75,000 miles on the clock, it would probably sell for upwards of $42,000.
I won’t sell it anything soon.
Buying a car as an “investment” is a fools errand. My current Porsche has been a great automobile because it has held its value and is a blast to drive. I’m going to call that an excellent value.
If you want to get a return on your investment, don’t look to assets that almost invariably depreciate. Buy cars because they’ll serve a specific cuntion, whether it is basic transportation, recreation, ego-stroking, or all of the above.
You’d be far better off putting your money into an investment that typically goes up in value—like rental property. You can control an expensive asset using leverage—a little of your money (a down payment) an a lot of other people’s money (the bank). Leverage provides a multiplying effect on the equity. Equity is the real measure of wealth.
For example, if you buy a rental house for $400,000 with a $100,000 investment (25%) and the property goes up in value 5% each year, your equity will grow like this:

I’d call that a pretty good rate of return.
I’m a dedicated car enthusiast. I wish I still had many of the cars I’ve owned over the last fifty years I would have a very expensive collection. But the thing is, you never know what the future holds with collectible cars.
